Police search for driver who hit man on busy Bronx street, fled scene

BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Police are searching for a driver who hit a man in a busy Bronx street and then fled the scene Thursday evening.

Surveillance video shows the 46-year-old victim attempting to cross the intersection of White Plains Road and Westchester Avenue around 6:30 p.m.

While the man is waiting until it's safe to cross, a white van sideswipes him, knocking him over.

The van, marked with U-Haul decals on the side, fled the scene after hitting him.

The man was taken to Jacobi Hospital with head injuries.

He is expected to recover.

Police say the van sustained damage to the driver's side mirror.
