Police shoot knife-wielding man in Brooklyn

BUSHWICK (PIX11)– Police shot a knife-wielding man in Brooklyn after he lunged at them Tuesday evening, they say.

Authorities say, around 8 p.m., police were responding to domestic assault at 1230 Hancock Street (map) when they encountered the individual with the knife.

The officers ordered him to drop the weapon, but he approached them with the knife in a raised position, police say.

One of the officers discharged his weapon once, striking him in the torso.

The suspect was transported to Kings County Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

The two officers were transported to Wycoff Hospital for treatment of tinnitus.
