CENTER MORICHES, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a woman has been run over and crushed by her own car on Long Island.

The Suffolk County Police Department said Sunday the woman died at the scene of the accident in Center Moriches. Police haven’t released her name. They’re working to make sure of her identity.

Detectives believe she got out of her Mercedes-Benz but left it running on Bowditch Lane around 7 p.m. Saturday. Police say the car backed over her and pinned her under the driver’s side door.

The car is undergoing a safety check.
