MIAMI (PIX11) — A mother in Miami with admitted “anger issues” was arrested after police say she beat her son and killed his puppy in front of him.

The Miami Herald reports 26-year-old Charlotte Wonjah remains in jail after a New Year’s Day court appearance on child abuse and cruelty to animals charges.

Police say the mother beat her 8-year-old son with a rope and killed his puppy by repeatedly slamming it on the floor.

It was reported that the mother killed the puppy because she “did not want to clean after the dog,” according to the paper.

Wonjah was first booked into jail on Tuesday after police say she attacked her boyfriend when he returned home with gifts for their children from his mother.

She faces two counts of misdemeanor battery for that incident.
