(PIX11) – Sometimes life isn’t fair, and it sure wasn’t for the ‘Wheel of Fortune’ contestants competing with Matt DeSanto last Friday.
DeSanto made ‘Wheel of Fortune’ history by not only correctly solving a puzzle with just a single letter, but then nailing every other puzzle in the main game.
Jaws dropped when DeSanto buzzed in after a single ‘E’ was posted on the board. “The Lone Ranger,” he proclaimed confidently as host Pat Sajak and the other two contestants laughed incredulously.
For DeSanto’s competition, however, the nightmare was only beginning.
DeSanto finished the game with $91,892, a record for any contestant in the history of the game show. He narrowly missed a chance at $1 million when he failed to solve the bonus puzzle — the answer was “wooden gavel.”
DeSanto says he is a lifelong fan of the show and has been watching since he was in kindergarten. He admitted that luck and some favorable spins of the wheel helped, adding that he also regularly does crossword puzzles in his spare time.
