HAYDEN, Idaho (PIX11) — A 29-year-old woman is dead after being shot by her 2-year-old son inside a Walmart in Idaho on Tuesday, Idaho authorities have confirmed to the AP.

The woman was shopping with several children — it’s unclear how they are related, AP reports — when the toddler apparently grabbed the firearm in the woman’s purse and discharged the gun.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office described the shooting as “accidental” in a news release, saying they relied on security footage to make that determination.

The mother has not been identified. Deputies said the woman had a concealed weapons permit. The investigation is ongoing.

The AP describes the town as politically conservative and home to about 9,000 residents, about 40 miles northeast of Spokane, Wash.
