NEW YORK (PIX11) -- The year will end with a week of a quiet but cold weather.

Expect mostly sunny conditions for much of the week, with temperatures on Tuesday in the low to mid 30s.

Winds will pick up Wednesday into Thursday, pushing wind chill values into the 20s during the day on New Year’s Eve.

By the time the ball drops at midnight, it’ll feel more like the upper teens to around 20.

For Friday, the wind will back off a bit and highs will moderate back into the lower 40s.

A strong storm is expected to arrive late Saturday into Sunday. Because the storm is coming from the west and sliding to the north, it’s expected to consist of mostly rain.
