EAST VILLAGE (PIX11) -- The NYPD is asking the public's help in locating a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted rape in the East Village early Sunday morning.
Police say the suspect followed a 22-year-old woman into an apartment building on East 6th Street around 6:06 a.m. and sexually assaulted her in the stairwell.
The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to Beth Israel Hospital in stable condition.
The suspect is described as a dark skinned male, approximately 25 years old, 180 pounds, with short hair. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, black bubble jacket, blue jeans and black sneakers.
