HILLSBORO, Oregon (PIX11) — A registered sex offender was arrested while allegedly downloading child pornography at a Starbucks in Oregon.

Robert Dietz, 59, was arrested by detectives with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 9 a.m. Saturday. Dietz was using free Wi-Fi at a Hillsboro Starbucks to download the footage, officials said.

Detectives monitoring the Internet for suspicious activity reviewed surveillance footage at the coffee shop. During the investigation, they identified the suspect as Dietz and developed probable cause to arrest him.

He was taken to Washington County Jail on charges of encouraging child sex abuse and parole violation. Dietz was previously arrested by the lead detective in 2009 for similar crimes.
