SELDEN, Long Island (PIX11) — A possible abduction reported on Long Island Friday turned out to be a prank, authorities said.

Police began investigating after witnesses reported seeing a female jogger being forced into a van and possibly abducted from a Long Island neighborhood.

The incident happened around 3:05 p.m. Friday, at the intersection of Boyle Road and Rush Street in Selden.

Witnesses called 911 to report several people pull up in a van and force the woman inside.

After an investigation, a person who had seen media reports of the possible abduction alerted authorities that it had in fact been a prank between friends.
