NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Last minute shoppers packed local malls this Christmas Eve.

At Kings Plaza in Brooklyn stores stayed open until 6pm for procrastinators.

Just two weeks ago the National Retail Federation found only 9 percent of people were done Christmas shopping.

And judging by the crowds few finished since they took the survey.

Shoppers are expected to spend just $781 a piece this holiday season.

Many were hoping to get the most bang for their buck by taking advantage of last minute jaw-dropping deals.
