BROOKLYN (PIX11) — Mourners gathered outside the childhood home of NYPD Officer Rafael Ramos Sunday evening for a candlelight vigil to honor the fallen cop and his partner Officer Wenjian Liu.

Ramos’ aunt, Lucy, said a few words during the vigil. Local officials including U.S. Rep. Nydia Velasquez, 75th Precinct President Juan Rodriguez and Bishop David Banke also made an appearance and spoke during the memorial.

Officers Ramos and Liu were gunned down in their patrol car by Ismaaiyl Brinsley. During a press conference Sunday evening, Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce detailed the man’s troubled past and homicide timeline from Baltimore to Brooklyn.
