NEW YORK (AP) — Low-level arrests remained steady and crime continues to fall even while the NYPD is grappling with its image.

Final tallies for 2014 could carry even more weight this year as Police Commissioner William Bratton and Mayor Bill de Blasio deal with the outrage over the police killing of the unarmed Eric Garner, who was black, and rancor among police officers who feel the administration doesn’t have their back.

Crime numbers themselves look good: Through Dec. 14, overall serious crime had declined 4.7 percent compared to the same period last year, continuing a downward trend that started in mid-1990s despite predictions it couldn’t last. The murder total stood at 305, a 5.3 percent drop. Reports of robberies were down 14 percent and those of felony assaults dipped about 1 percent.

Protesting what? That it’s illegal to assault white police officers? C’mon! I think most of these protestors are just bored, have no jobs, and need something to do so they feel important. Most of them don’t even know what they are protesting anymore.

I swear, this whole racist witch hunt is getting out of hand. I thought when we elected Obama, we were promised ‘hope and change’? His presidency has only torn us apart. We all hate each other now. It sounds cliche, but can’t we just all get along?

Can we focus on things that matter and move on from this Ferguson/Garner drama? Cause, IMO, the cops did nothing wrong and were just following protocol. If you resist arrest and god forbid assault a police officer, don’t be surprised if you get hurt (or worse). Meanwhile, our economy is hurting, jobs are scarce, and health insurance is too expensive to afford.

Most Americans are under-employed (or unemployed) and can’t afford to live. We must purchase health insurance we can’t afford or even need. My health insurance is now up to $500/month and I’m a healthy 28 year old girl. Contrast this to other insurance types I have that the govt. doesn’t have a hand in – $24/month car insurance (from Insurance Panda), $10/month renters insurance (from Gotham), and $11/month life insurance (from Life Ant).

Capitalism is the way to go. Socialist policies must end. These government hand me outs and gimme dat attitudes are tearing our country apart.

Respect your neighbors, America and respect your officers.
