New York's Republican Chairman, Ed Cox, made a surprising statement in an interview with PIX11's Marvin Scott: New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is more in tune with voters than Hillary Clinton and has a better shot at the Democratic presidential nomination.

"I don't presume she is going to make it because the party has gone too far left for her," Cox said. "Clinton's brnad is not the progressive brand."

Clinton has promised in the past to announce her intentions on whether or not to run by the end of the year or early in 2015, but the mayor's office laughed at the assertion that de Blasio has his sights on a bid to the presidency.
