Power restored after earlier blackout left thousands in the dark

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (PIX11) -- PATH service is running with delays and power is slowly being restored after an earlier blackout left more than 10,000 PSE&G customers in the dark in Jersey City.

A PSE&G spokesperson told PIX11 the outage was caused by a raccoon on top of a transformer in a switching yard.

Earlier, there was no PATH service between New York City and New Jersey.

Service has since been restored, but with delays.

New Jersey Transit is cross-honoring PATH tickets.

    Path service to & from NYC isn’t operating AT ALL right now – “operating with delays” is not the case here, unfortunately.

    The power did NOT go back on in my part of downtown Jersey City until almost 9:30. Seriously, why the misinformation? More lies to make PSE&G look better?
