1 dead, 5 injured in Coney Island high-rise apartment fire

CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A 34-year-old man was killed and five people were injured in a fire in a high-rise apartment in Brooklyn Friday morning.

Police say the fire broke out on the 19th floor of the Coney Island apartment fire at 2750 West 33rd St. just before 3 a.m.

The fire was under control just after 5 a.m.

Police say a 31-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man has been identified as Vitaliy Narodetskiy, 31, of 2750 West 33 Street.

Authorities say another person suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

He was taken to Community Hospital.

The rest of the injuries were minor.

Multiple apartments were damaged by smoke.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
