MANHATTAN (PIX11) -- Protesters are calling on city officials to put an end to police brutality.
Demonstrators gathered at City Hall Wednesday afternoon to address a list of demands they have for officials. They called for the immediate firing of Officer Daniel Pantaleo and the hiring of a special prosecutor to investigate criminal cases involving force by police officers.
Among the protesters were hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, rapper Common and Eric Garner's son. The demonstration was organized by the Justice League, which was founded in 2005.
The organization is also responsible for several protests that took place throughout the city since the grand jury's announcement not to indict Pantaleo in Garner's death. This includes die-ins at Grand Central Terminal.
While at City Hall, Simmons said he spoke to Andrew Cuomo about the Eric Garner case. Jay-Z also reportedly spoke with the governor about criminal justice reform Wednesday, according to a post on Twitter.
