Woman killed in Bronx high-rise fire

THE BRONX (PIX11) -- One woman was killed after a fire broke out inside a high-rise Bronx apartment building Friday afternoon.

Fire officials received a call just after 4 p.m. for the fire at the Moore Houses on East 149th Street.

The fire was contained to an apartment on the sixth-floor of the building, according to the FDNY.

A 67-year-old woman was found in the apartment with burns on her body and was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where she succumbed to her injures.The victim's identity is not being released until her family has been notified.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
