NEW YORK (PIX11) — NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton was splattered with fake blood by demonstrators in Times Square Monday night as thousands converged there to denounce the Ferguson grand jury’s decision not to indict Officer Darren Wilson in Michael Brown’s death.

Twitter user @Jeffrae posted a picture showing the top cop covered in what looks like red paint. He otherwise appeared fine.

The crowd chaotically scattered after Bratton was splashed with what appeared to be paint. At least another person in Bratton’s police detail was splattered.

Diego Ibanez, 26, of Brooklyn, was arrested in connection with the paint toss. He faces charges of assault, criminal mischief, harassment, reckless endangerment, and obstructing government administration.

Protestors initially gathered in Union Square and continued to Times Square in what was a largely peaceful protest.

He’s bent over backwards trying to do his job in New York, and some assclown does this. I apologize
    Commissioner Bratton.
