ST. LOUIS (PIX11) — A teenager will be spending several years in prison after viciously attacking his teacher in a North St. Louis school.
Kevin Straub, 15, was caught on surveillance video pummeling his 42-year-old teacher to the ground May 8, 2013. The man was struck multiple times in the face and when police reported to the scene, they found him on the floor bleeding from his head , KMOV reported.
The attack at Innovative Concept Academy gave the teacher a stroke. Doctors say he may even lose sight in one eye , FOX2 Now reported.
The victim’s mother-in-law told the station the unidentified teacher is a good person and father.
Straub’s violent behavior changed so many lives, the victim’s mother told FOX2 Now. Because of the attack, the teacher will not be able to play basketball with his son anymore.
The teen was sentenced to 10 years in prison. In court, the judge said although Straub is a child, he committed a man’s crime and should be sentenced as such.
Innovative Concept Academy is the only school in America overseen by a court system . It works to educate and rehabilitate delinquent teens.
According to the school’s website, the Academy’s students are given “a real chance at changing course and building a productive, meaningful life.”
