1 killed, more than a dozen hurt in Brooklyn fire overnight

FLATBUSH, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- More than a dozen people were hurt and at least one victim has died in an early morning blaze that ripped through an apartment in Brooklyn Wednesday, authorities said.

Flames broke out about 12:30 a.m. at 1434 Flatbush Ave., a building that houses a storefront on the ground floor and apartments above.

Fire officials said early information from the scene suggests 15 people were rushed to a hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known. At least one person died of their injuries, police said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
