NEW YORK (PIX11) – As a prolonged blast of Canadian cold grips much of the country, stunning images are coming out of Buffalo, where a wall of snow was photographed rolling off of Lake Eerie Tuesday.

One of the photos, taken by Jason Holler, shows the system bearing down on downtown Buffalo.  The photo was taken from the 40-story One Seneca Building.

Snow came down furiously Tuesday, parts of Buffalo could be socked by as much as six feet of powder this week.

Mayor Byron Brown has declared a travel ban to South Buffalo ahead of the storm.

The extreme snowfall is part of a broader, frigid system that has gripped the tri-state area as well.  Click for more.
