OCEAN TOWNSHIP, New Jersey (PIX11) – After receiving a call about an erratic driver, an Ocean Township police officer spotted what initially appeared to be a man lying on the hood of a car headed north along Main Street Monday evening.

A closer investigation revealed that the body was “halfway through the vehicle’s windshield,” according to Patrolman Kyle Flatt, and had been that way for at least a mile and a half.

Flatt arrested the driver, 33-year-old Marcos A. Ortega, of Little Egg Harbor, after he failed sobriety tests at the scene, police said.  Ortega faces charges of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash and causing serious bodily injury to another while driving under the influence.

The victim, 61-year-old Kenneth C. Moeller, of Lanoka Harbor, suffered serious injuries and was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he is in critical condition.
