CYPRESS HILLS, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A 76-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car while crossing the street in Brooklyn.

Police say the woman was crossing North Conduit Avenue around 11:30 a.m., on Saturday when a white BMW hit her.

The woman was not using the crosswalk.

She was taken to Brookdale Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released.

The driver remained at the scene until police arrived.

The death comes one day after Mayor de Blasio’s Vision Zero plan went into effect.

The new plan reduces the speed limit from 30 mph to 25 in an effort to reduce the number of traffic deaths around the five boroughs.
