LONG ISLANDĀ (PIX11) -- Suffolk County has banned the sale of powdered caffeine to anyone under the age of 18.

It's the first place in the nation to have a law restricting sales of the product, though it doesn't impact any internet sales.

One teaspoon of the potent powder is equal to 25 cups of coffee.

It's caused several teens to get sick and even caused the death of an 18-year-old in Ohio.

The FDA has talked about putting a national ban on the sale of powdered caffeine to minors.
