TRENTON (AP)— Democrat Cory Booker gets his first re-election test just one year after winning a special election to join the U.S. Senate.
The former Newark mayor is facing Republican Jeff Bell. Bell, 70, moved to New Jersey earlier this year to run for the seat, but some in New Jersey remember him.
He won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in 1978 and sought it in 1982 before moving to Washington.
The conservative's signature issue is calling for the U.S. dollar to be backed by the gold standard for the first time since 1971.
