Man, 59, killed in Brooklyn hit and run

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A 59-year-old man was killed in an apparent hit and run on Rockaway Parkway in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn early Saturday.

Police responding to the scene at around 2:20 a.m. found the man lying in the road, unconscious. They said that a dark colored sedan traveling north hit the man while he was he was attempting to cross mid-block between Clarkson Avenue and Winthrop Street. The driver then fled the scene. The man was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

There are no arrests at this time and NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.

Police didn’t release the identity of the victim pending notification of his family.
