FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (PIX11) — A Long Island woman expecting trick-or-treaters opened her door Friday night to three masked robbers, two with guns, who forced themselves into the home.
The 34-year-old woman was in the Beach Street home with her 48-year-old husband and their 2-year-old son. Nassau County police said the intruders demanded the homeowners sit down. The husband, who refused to comply, was piston whipped numerous times in the head. The man and woman were then bound at the hands and feet with duct tape.
Police said two additional people joined the group and they all began to ransack the home. The female victim, who was able to free herself, grabbed her son and ran next door to call 911. All five robbers then fled the house. Police said they haven't yet determined what was stolen from the home.
The husband, who suffered head lacerations, was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Police are still searching for the robbers, a group of four men and one woman. They're asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
