BROOKLYN (PIX11) — A Queens man is facing charges after allegedly abusing 3 young girls at the Fort Hamilton Army Base in Brooklyn.

Prosecutors say Fausto Bonifaz, 39, coerced 3 girls, ages 12 to 13 years old, into sexual activity at the military base.

Bonifaz was a civilian, but was allowed on the base because he was worked with the mother of one of the victims and had access to her home.

His alleged actions weren’t revealed until years later, when one of the victims told a counselor.

Before his arrest, Bonifaz admitted to FBI agents he had abused one of the girls, and signed a written statement.

“Protecting children from sexual predators is one of our highest priorities. We will not allow people such as the defendant to prey on the families of our military, and we will investigate all allegations of abuse,” US  Eastern District Attorney Loretta Lynch said.

“The act of sexual abuse haunts its victims long after the crime has been committed, setting them up for a life overshadowed by despair,” said FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge George Venizelos. “Today’s charges underscore our commitment to protect our children — our nation’s greatest asset
— from this type of violence carried out by predators who seek to destroy their innocence.”
