Man, 54, tumbles to his death at Palisades Center Mall

WEST NYACK, NY (PIX11) - Authorities were on the scene of what appears to be a tragic accident at Palisades Center mall in West Nyack.  Thursday where a 54-year-old man fell to his death from a third floor elevator.

According to officials, the incident happened just before 10:20 am in the west end section of the shopping center.

Frantic calls reportedly flooded into 911 after witnesses saw the shocking incident unfold.

Responding officers and emergency medical personnel covered the body with tarp, concealing it from shoppers still in the area.

Preliminary reports say the victim was at the Palisades Center Mall as part of a field trip with a Special Needs group home.

His identity has not been released.

The Palisades Center Mall is the largest shopping center in the New York metropolitan area.
