Student dies after choking in Brooklyn school

COBBLE HILL (PIX11) – A student has died after choking inside a classroom at the School for International Studies in Cobble Hill.

Emergency Medical Services rushed to the school on Baltic Street, but were unable to save the student, who is believed to be 21 years old, according to media reports.

In a statement Tuesday, schools Chancellor Carmin Fariña expressed condolences for the student’s family and the academic community, saying:

“I am deeply saddened to hear of this loss, and my heart goes out to the student’s family and the entire school community. We will have guidance counselors at the school to help support the community during this tragedy.”

The choking victim has not been publicly identified.
