NASHVILLE, N.C. (PIX11/AP) — North Carolina officials are responding after at least two people were shot at a courthouse in Nash County, about 45 miles east of Raleigh, according to multiple reports.

Police and emergency officials are now combing the nearby area for the shooter or shooters.

Officials posted on Nash County’s website that offices about a block from the courthouse were locked down Tuesday in reaction to the shooting.

Nash County Sheriff Dick Jenkins confirmed to WNCN that the victims were not courthouse employees or officers.

Both victims sustained non-life threatening injuries in the shooting, Jenkins said.
