EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (PIX11) — It turns out Sunday’s 43-23 blowout where the New York Jets fell to the Buffalo Bills wasn’t the only thing that went down at Metlife Stadium.
Video of a brutal assault between fans that left one man knocked out has surfaced online.
The footage, which was obtained by TMZ Sports, shows a Jets fan clobbering a Bills fan in a punch so savage he goes down for the count.
“He’s still down!” screams a witness as spectators scramble to make sense of what transpired.
Witnesses tell TMZ that the Bills fan had been “shooting off his mouth” for a good part of the game when the Jets fan finally exploded.
That fan – identified by authorities as 34-year-old Christopher Fox of Peekskill, N.Y. – attempted to flee the stands but was immediately apprehended by state troopers.
New Jersey State Police tell PIX11 News Fox was arrested and charged with simple assault.
His immediate arrest is credited to Metlife’s state-of-the-art surveillance system which features a mega-pixel system that provides undisrupted video coverage throughout every part of the venue.
Incidents aren’t a new thing at Metlife Stadium.
A rowdy brawl broke out in Section 302 just two years ago when yet again, Gang Green faced off with Buffalo.
Last October, a man wearing Jets apparel appeared to punch a female Patriots fan square in the face amid a scuffle near concession stands. The melee ended with four being charged.
In the case of Sunday’s assault, the victim was taken to an area hospital where he was evaluated. The man suffered no serious injury, officials said.
