COMMACK, Long Island (PIX11) — When a SUV driver crashed through his fence and landed in his pool, this good Samaritan did not hesitate to spring into action.

Joseph DiDonato, 79, was driving his 2010 Acura SUV through the parking lot of Mayfair Foot Care on Harned Road in Commack when he mistakenly pressed the gas instead of brakes.

DiDonato broke through fence of the neighboring resident, and landed at the deep end of in-ground pool on Smiths Lane.

John Bacchi, the 32-year-old homeowner, was in the backyard with his wife when DiDonato drove into the pool.

Bacchi immediately jumped in, broke driver’s side window and pulled DiDonato out to safety.

DiDonato was transported to Huntington Hospital for evaluation.
