Cops searching for Ethiopian nun who disappeared on the Lower East Side

LOWER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) -- Cops are searching for an Ethiopian nun who disappeared Thursday.

Tadelech Yohanis is a 30 year old nun who was visiting New York from Ethiopia. Police say she's 5'9" and 150 lbs.

Yohanis arrived Monday Oct. 6 and was scheduled to leave Sunday.

She was last seen at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart Covent on Jackson Street, when she left with her passport and never returned.

Police sources say Yohanis has been a nun for 8 years. Sources say she left her bag and clothes.

Police say Yohanis is in good mental condition.

On Monday night, no one was available at the Convent for comment.
