BROOKLYN (PIX11)– Officials are saying multiple firefighters were hurt after responding to a fire inside a factory building Thursday morning.

It happened at Belmont Metals located at 330 Belmont Avenue around 1:30 a.m.

FDNY did not want to use water because they weren’t sure what was burning. Instead a Haz Mat unit was called and brought the fire under control about 45 minutes later.

The firefighters were transported to a local hospital, several of them listed in serious condition.
