Man rescued after basement collapses in Inwood

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A man was rescued from a hole after a basement of an upper Manhattan apartment building collapsed Tuesday evening.

An 8x8 section of the basement of the building on Riverside Drive in Inwood collapsed just after 7 p.m., according to the FDNY.

The man was stuck inside a hole that was at least 10 feet deep, but was pulled out by first responders.

He suffered serious, but non life-threatening leg injuries.

It is unclear what caused the collapse.
