SOUTH NYACK, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Students at Nyack College remain on high alert, after a mysterious stranger could be seen on surveillance video entering both male and female dorms, along with other buildings.

“We have no indication there’s any connection with students, parents or any reason for his presence here,” said Jeff Quinn, Vice President of College relations.

Surveillance cameras tracked his movements on September 23. The footage shows the heavy set man, who is wearing a white sweatshirt, casually walking through hallways, and entering unlocked dorm rooms, according to Brent Newbury, Chief of South Nyack-Grand View Police Department. He said there was no evidence of criminal activity.

“(He) doesn’t appear to be carrying anything. (He) doesn’t appear to be taking anything,” Newbury said. “This individual seemed to blend in pretty well, so he might have known the area. We really want to get to the bottom of why this person was here and who they are.”

Flyers with the intruder’s picture and instructions on what students should do if they see him, were posted around the campus.

“We’ve learned a lesson, that we have to keep our rooms locked,” said Nyack College freshman Van Lee.

Anyone with information that can help police identify the man is asked to call the South Nyack-Grand View Police Department at 845-358-0206.
