STATEN ISLAND (PIX11) — A woman has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and arson after her 80-year-old husband was found dead in a bathtub by firefighters who had just extinguished a blaze at the couple’s Staten Island home, police said Thursday.

Antionetta Baldassarre, 67, also faces two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, NYPD said.

Baldassarre’s husband, Frank, was found shortly after noon Wednesday, lifeless in a first-floor bathtub and suffering from head trauma, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Firefighters found Frank Baldassarre after they put out a blaze in the garage of the home, located in the 400 block of Victory Boulevard.

The suspect was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation and later questioned by police in the death of her husband, which was soon classified as a homicide, authorities said. She was arrested the following day.

The Medical Examiner will determine Baldassarre’s cause of death.
