NEW YORK (PIX11) – Crabs, on a plane?

One of the stranger flight delays affected US Airways flight 890 passengers heading to Charlotte Douglas International Airport Thursday night after live crabs got loose inside the cargo hold, officials confirmed.

Crabs being transported to New York City broke free of their enclosures and began crawling around the hold, setting back the takeoff by half an hour.

The crustacean jailbreak trended on Twitter under the appropriate hashtag #CrabsOnAPlane — the apparent sequel to Samuel L. Jackson’s movie “Snakes on a Plane.”
