Man walking on the Long Island Expressway killed by car

QUEENS (PIX11)-- A male pedestrian walking along the Long Island Expressway was struck and killed by a passing car early Monday, according to authorities.

They said the incident happened on the LIE at the Grand Central Parkway.

The 35-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation by police, the man was walking on the westbound Long Island Expressway in the middle lane and was struck by a green Ford car just at the Grand Central Parkway.

The collision investigation is ongoing.

Traffic has been cleared.
