FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) – A judge in New Jersey is scheduled to take a first look at the domestic violence case against a New York Jets practice squad member.

Quincy Enunwa pleaded not guilty earlier this month to simple assault and domestic violence. Florham Park police say the rookie wide receiver pulled a female victim off a hotel bed and that she injured her head and finger.

An NFL spokesman said the league was reviewing the case.

Enunwa was arrested just after the league put in place tougher penalties for players accused of domestic violence, including a six-week suspension for first offenses and at least a year for second offenses.

The 22-year-old wide receiver is on the practice squad, meaning he is not active for games.
