Attacker sought after woman fights off attempted rapist in Brooklyn

GREENPOINT, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- Police are searching for a man who they say attempted to rape a woman in Brooklyn.

The attack happened just before 3 a.m. Sunday at the corner of Morgan Avenue and Driggs Street in Greenpoint.

Police say a 25-year-old woman was approached from behind by the culprit who grabbed her, pushed her into a wall and tried to rape her.

The woman was able to fight him off.

Surveillance video shows the suspect taking off from the scene.

He is described as wearing a t-shirt, blue jeans and running sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and then enter TIP577.

    This woman was trying to report the news while not paying attention. She called Driggs Avenue, Driggs Street, and said we should call police if we have any information that would be useful “to him!!!!!” Really? She seems so preoccupied and disinterested. If so, let someone else who can, report it in correct fashion. Why would I or anyone want to report any information that would be useful to a potential rapist? Hey PIX 11, manage your news people correctly. I’m sure the woman involved in the attack did not appreciate the cavalier attitude of this news reporter.
