HONG KONG (PIX11) — As tensions grow in Hong Kong during a series of protests, a CNN reporter was caught in the crossfire of tear gas.

Ivan Watson was reporting, riot police used tear gas on the crowd of protestors.

Watson is seen grabbing a gas mask and running from the location.

Demonstrators have been protesting for days over China’s decision to allow only candidates from Beijing to run in Hong Kong’s election for chief executive, the city’s top civil position.

At least 34 people were injured and hospitalized Sunday.
