Man killed in hit-and-run near Union Square

NEW YORK (PIX11) — A 33-year-old man was struck and killed by a car near Union Square early Sunday morning.

The collision occurred on Fifth Avenue, between 16th and 15th streets, shortly after 3 a.m., police said.

Authorities said the pedestrian was crossing Fifth Avenue, when a white two-door sedan, traveling southbound, crashed into him and then fled the scene.

Responding officers noted the man sustained severe head trauma. He was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

The man was later identified as 33-year-old Doohee Cho.

No arrests have been made. Police are looking for the car and driver.

    I used to work with DooHee. He is one of the sweetest. smartest, most interesting people I have ever met. I keep thinking about his family, how he was in awe of his mom, his sister traveling to Paris, and lots of other things.
    I am devastated.
