OSSINING, N.Y. (PIX11) — Ossining High School students are back in the building after the school went on lockdown.
The school posted a statement to their website and Twitter about the lockdown Wednesday afternoon.
All other schools in the district were in lock-out as a precautionary measure.
Ossining police say they do not have a reason for why the school was put on lockdown.
The lockdown came just hours after the school posted a statement from the principal about comments online made by students the day before.
“Last night we were made aware that several Ossining High School students wrote inappropriate comments on a popular social media platform that could be interpreted as a threat to Ossining High School,” the letter to parents said.
An investigation determined that what the students wrote was not a threat.
“The safety of our students and staff is our first priority,” said Superintendent of Schools Raymond Sanchez. “We appreciate the efforts of those who brought this matter to our attention and the prompt response of law enforcement authorities.”
The school plans on sending a letter out about social media to families in the district.
