LITTLE ITALY (PIX11) -- For 122 years, the family-owned Ferrara’s Bakery and Café in Little Italy has been the epicenter for everything Italian and delicious.

Among many things, they are best known for their cannoli. So it makes sense for this little shop on Grand Street to attempt to build the largest cannoli in the world.

Ferrara’s quest for this epic title starts in a factory in Perth Amboy, N.J. This is no regular factory, it’s a cannoli factory.

It’s also where executive baker and co-owner Ernest Lepore and his team are in a race against the clock to craft the massive shell that will house some 300-pounds of cream.

Their creation – whether it be record-breaking or not – will be unveiled during a ceremony on Saturday at 3pm at the Feast of San Gennaro. For more information, visit their website.
