NEW YORK (PIX11) -- According to New York City Police Commissioner Bill Bratton, hate crimes are on the rise across the city.

Bratton says it's a pattern we've seen in the past, especially given recent current events.

According to numbers just released Wednesday, anti-Semitic crimes are up, with 89 reported so far this year, compared with just 64 at this time last year.

Attacks on Muslims are also up, with 17 reported so far this year, compared to just 10 at this time last year.

So what is our police department doing about it?

Aside from acknowledging the uptick, Bratton says the department is keeping a very close eye on what he calls isolated attacks.
