SYDNEY, Australia (PIX11) – Kanye West halted a show to demand everyone stand up for his performance, and allegedly berated a pair of disabled fans who couldn’t comply with the rapper’s request.

It happened at a concert Sept. 12 in Sydney, Australia.

In between songs, Kanye demanded that everyone in the crowd stand up – and refused to continue until the entire audience was upright.

“I can’t do this song, I can’t do the rest of this show until everybody stand up,” he said in a video posted to YouTube by P Galbraith.

But two concertgoers didn’t comply because they physically couldn’t stand up: One was in a wheel chair and another had a prosthetic leg.

Video of the awkward exchange was posted online.

TMZ reports that Kanye sent an employee of his into the crowd to make sure the fan was in a wheelchair.

When the employee verified it, Kanye said “it’s fine” and started his song.

The incident sparked outrage and sympathy online, with some commenters saying Kanye was insensitive to probe so deeply and single out the audience members and others saying the situation is being blown out of proportion.

“I saw the man in the wheelchair after the show and he was very happy, even more stoked that Kanye had spoken to him directly,” the person who posted the video wrote in their YouTube caption.
