Suspect accused of stealing autistic man’s birthday money arrested

STAMFORD, Conn. (PIX11) -- Police in Connecticut say they have arrested the suspect accused of a stealing an autistic man's birthday money last week.

Stamford police say they received several leads over the weekend after releasing surveillance video showing a man stealing the 27-year-old victim's $100 and taunting him with it before running away.

Steven St. Jacques, 27, turned himself into authorities Monday after a search warrant was executed on his home.

Police say St. Jacques "admitted to his involvement in the crime." St. Jacques has been charged with larceny and is being held on $50,000 bond. The suspect has prior arrests for assault and robbery.

$1300 in donations was collected for the victim after the video was released.
